Royal Enfield Classic 650 Launched in India: Price, Features, and What Makes It Special

Royal Enfield has once again made headlines with the launch of its much-awaited Classic 650 in India. Priced at ₹3.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai), this bike is set to take the mid-size cruiser segment by storm. The Classic 650 is the latest addition to Royal Enfield’s 650cc lineup, joining the likes of the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650.

Price and Variants

The Classic 650 comes in three variants:

  • Hotrod (₹3.37 lakh) – Available in Bruntingthorpe Blue and Vallam Red.
  • Classic (₹3.41 lakh) – Exclusive Teal colour.
  • Chrome (₹3.50 lakh) – Premium Black Chrome finish 135.

Interestingly, the Classic 650 is priced lower than the Shotgun 650, making it a more affordable option for enthusiasts looking for a powerful cruiser with classic styling.

Design and Styling

The Classic 650 takes heavy inspiration from its smaller sibling, the Classic 350, which has been a bestseller for Royal Enfield. Key design highlights include:

  • Teardrop-shaped fuel tank
  • Round LED headlamp with signature pilot lamps
  • Chrome-finished exhaust pipes
  • Wire-spoke wheels (19-inch front, 18-inch rear) 24.

The bike retains the neo-retro charm that Royal Enfield is known for, making it a head-turner on Indian roads.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the Classic 650 packs the same 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine seen in other RE 650cc models. It produces:

  • 46.3 bhp @ 7,250 rpm
  • 52.3 Nm torque @ 5,650 rpm
Paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch, the bike promises smooth gear shifts and better control 36.

Despite its 243 kg kerb weight (heaviest in RE’s lineup), the bike is expected to deliver a balanced ride, thanks to its well-tuned suspension.

Suspension and Braking

  • Front: 43mm telescopic Showa forks (120mm travel)
  • Rear: Twin shock absorbers (90mm travel)
  • Brakes: 320mm front disc, 300mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS 57.

Features and Tech

The Classic 650 comes loaded with modern features, including:

  • LED headlamp and taillight
  • Tripper Navigation pod
  • USB Type-C charging port
  • Adjustable levers
  • Semi-analog instrument cluster 16.

Competition and Market Position

The Classic 650 will compete with the BSA Goldstar 650 and other mid-weight cruisers. Its competitive pricing and classic appeal give it an edge in the segment.

Booking and Availability

Bookings have already started across Royal Enfield showrooms, with deliveries expected to begin by April 2025 6.

Final Verdict

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is a perfect mix of old-school charm and modern performance. With its affordable pricingstriking looks, and reliable engine, it’s set to be another hit for Royal Enfield.
